equipment, and historical information about all of the area's Olympic

Called
"the best of its kind in the world," by The New York Times,
the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake overlooks the lake of the
same name. Six million acres of Adirondack Park surround this place and
form the basis of the museum's exhibits and programs telling the
stories of how people have lived, worked, played and traveled in the Adirondack
region since the early 1800s. Twenty buildings on 32 acres of grounds
and gardens, house exhibits on logging, boats and boating, mining, outdoor
recreation, transportation, rustic furniture..., and on-going programs
and special events offer a variety of interesting activities for the whole
family.

Featuring a 20-mile round trip from Lake Placid Station to Saranac Lake
Union Depot. You can depart from either station. Be sure to take time
to walk through the village of Saranac Lake, take the Historic Walking
Tour on Saturdays or Lake Placid before heading back. You can spend the
day or just a few hours. 45 minutes each way with 1/2 hour layover.

Experience
the grandeur of the early 19th century touring the elegant mansion Greystone.
Overlooking a magnificent view of Lake Champlain, Greystone was built
of 18'' thick cut stone walls quarried in nearby Willsboro, the same site
later the stone work base of the Brooklyn Bridge would come from.Built
by wealthy merchant Belden Noble, construction took nearly four years
beginning in 1853. The fashionable Greek revival Style is evident in the
fluted column entrance way and spectacular plaster work interiors. The
original mahogany gothic style library remains intact along with a pair
of gilded pier mirrors. Furniture and furnishings original to the Empire
period are displayed in the dining room, music room, parlor, center hall,
and library.
